Abstract
The electromagnetic brake with ac generaor, for vehicles, has a permanently magnetic rotor with its poles arranged north-south, all south or all north as requird. The rotor's speed can be increased by a suitable choice of the number of teeth on the central ring forming part of the support for the permanent magnets towards the outside. The load windings are perpendicular to the windings carrying the generated current. The load windings load the generating windings and transform the electric field into a magnetic field and restore braking between the rotor and the vehicle's brake drum. The load and generating windings are both on the rotor and require no external connections.
