Abstract

An article is built up is not 2 synthetic materials with different properties by bonding the materials together along a surface of contact. At least 1 of the synthetics consists of components which react together and is in the reactive state at the contact surface, the other synthetic is in the liq. melt state at the contact surface. A wider range of combinations of synthetics is possible, giving greater possibilities in application. No adhesive is used. Polyolefins, normally used as release layers, can be combined with other synthetics. The conditions can be controlled so that the 2 synthetics have the same degree of shrinkage on cooling. A weldable material can be bonded to a non-weldable material, giving a prod. which has specific weldable zones. The surface of articles can be improved, e.g. by application of a coloured thermoplast onto a duroplast. The process is carried out in known plant.
