Abstract

1458347 Abrasive tools SCHLEIFMITTELWERK BIETIGHEIM FRIEDRICH ELBE KG 17 Oct 1975 [19 Oct 1974] 42830/75 Heading B3D An abrasive element adapted to be releasably clamped on to a supporting disc comprises a layer 2 of a plastics material bonded intimately to a face of an abrasive body 1 to present a flat clamping surface, and fastening elements 3 embedded in the layer each to bear, by way of a respective end face against the face of the body. The layer 2 has a thickness of a few millimetres only and is bonded to the abrasive body, the fastening elements in the form of tapered nuts 3 being embedded in the layer. The body 1 may be provided in its face with recesses which receive projections on the layer housing the nuts. The elements may be cup-shaped or formed as a hollow cylinder. The mechanical strength of the layer may be increased by mixing glass fibres in the plastics material. The layers may be applied to the body when the body is of synthetic resin before curing of the body.
