Abstract

An installation for cutting double frames into two single frames forming a stage in the manufacture of fruit crates, uses two circular saws (6) to cut through the vertical corner posts which have slats fixed to them, forming the sides of the crates. The frames are conveyed along parallel support tracks (5) by continuous chain conveyors (1) which have pushers (11, 12) suspended from them, which push the frames past the two circular saws. At the feed end, a double frame passes under an overhanging guide (9) which holds its steady as it is cut by the two saw blades, then the lower cut half is conveyed onwards under a second guide (10) mounted at a corresponding height. The upper cut half remains above the saw blades until pushed on by the next frame.
