Abstract

Coupling or interlock mechanism is for electrical plugs and sockets esp. cylindrical types. Coupling and disconnection of the two mating elements can be accomplished rapidly in positions providing minimum access. Insertion is accomplished by a simple axial movement followed by a short rotational turn of the free element. Disconnection is achieved by a simple axial pull, wh ich can be done remotely by pulling on the cable itself. Interlocking of the free and fixed connector parts is by several ball-bearings moving into bayonet like sockets against spring pressure. This same pressure allows a direct pull to twist the free element and release it.
