Abstract

The column insulator of the sulphur hexafluoride gas blast high voltage circuit breaker carries two symmetrically mounted quenching chambers. The circuit breaker is driven by a high pressure pneumatic system with closed gas circuit. The breaker is actuated by a rod between the high voltage and earth potential. The drive piston (4) of the high pressure drive system are controlled by valves regulated by the actuating rod. The pistons are mounted between the two quenching chambers (3) on the column insulator (1) and affect directly the gas blast circuit breaker. The inlet and outlet of pressure air for the drive pistons and the monitoring of the sulphur hexafluoride is carried out via a multi-channel connector.
