Abstract

Screws feed singly into a screw-driving tool. An upper driving mechanism and a lower screw-holding nose are telescoped together before driving. The screw is pushed through a resilient nose cap, exposed for positioning on the workpiece. Axial movement is adjustable. The tool adapts to portable handling or machine mounting. A feeder (4) delivered screw (3) lies aligned in the nose (2) cap (13). The nose moves axially, relative to the driving blade (9) and a shank with a pneumatic cylinder slides through a set of guides. The nose is lifted to push the screw thread outside the nose. A piston rod nut sets the stroke.
