Abstract

The flywheel shaft (10) is rigidly mounted in a boss (14) at the flywheel (11) centre. A shallow circular depression (19) is formed around the boss to keep the fitting compact. On the boss is located a washer (16), with a torus shaped periphery (17), retained in place by a circlip (12). A hub (20) is fixed in the support wall (P) and has a stepped series of bores (21, 22,23) which clear the external diameters of the flywheel location fittings. At the end of the hub nearest the flywheel is cut an internal groove (24) which loosely retains an elastic O-ring (25) having a slightly smaller internal diameter than the external diameter of the torus. When the shaft is inserted in the hub and forced home, the torus expands, and is then retained by, the O-ring.
