Abstract
The torque tightening system is fitted to a power spanner (50) with a regulator and quality control circuit which monitor the condition and operation of the power spanner and regulator. A signal is generated and compared with a maximum and minimum power setting. The circuit compares speed of rotation and/or torque settings. The regulator power is cut off if the prescribed limits are exceeded. Additionally there is a sensor circuit (64,70;74,76) giving momentary speed and/or torque values. This gives an actual gradient, and a comparison circuit (98) compares this against the value for maximum gradient obtained from data store (102).
