Abstract

Compsn. for preventing and treating 'sludging' (agglomeration of blood corpuscles, esp. erythrocytes) contains as active ingredient a pyridine deriv. of formula (I): In (I) X=S or O. R=H, phenyl (opt. substd. by >=1 halo, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, No2, OH, NH2, SO2NH2, aryl, COOH, alkoxycarbonyl, CN,CH2OH, or ethylenedioxy), styryl, naphthyl, thienyl, benzhydryl (opt. substd. by >=1 halo, lower alkyl lower alkoxy, aryl, NO2, NH2, SO2NH2, COOH, alkocycarbonyl, CN, CH2OH or methylenedioxy) or benzoyl (opt. substd. by >=1 halo, lower alkyl, lowr alkoxy, NO2, NH2 or SO2NH2). R1 and R2 are each >=1 H, halo, OH, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, NO2 or NH2. R3 =H, halo, OH, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, NO2 or NH2. n=0-15, and each R3 is same or different when n >=1). (I) are administered in daily doses of 0.075-0.75g for control of sludging in blood vessels, esp. capillaries. They are given in usual oral, parenteral or rectal forms, with unit doses contg.
