Abstract

The DC/DC converter converts a dc voltage into a higher dc voltage using a two-transistor oscillator containing an LC resonant circuit and an output rectifier coupled to a zener diode and capacitor. The output transistor (102) is coupled in series with the inductor across the battery and is connected by its base to the collector of the complementary second transistor (4a). The feedback capacitor (6b) connects the output transistor's collector to the second transistor's base. The second transistor (4a) is biased by a voltage less than that produced by the whole of the battery. This bias is derived from one of the battery's cells (1d).
