Abstract

The usual method of serving meals to passengers on aircraft uses a trolley pushed along the gangway by the air hostess. This causes inconvenience to passengers walking in the gangway, when meals are being served. This system uses a container running on overhead rails to overcome this problem. The container (C2) is mounted on a lazy tongs linkage (m) suspended from a trolley running on overhead rails attached to the aircraft roof over the central gangway. The dishes can be loaded at the galley at a convenient level. The container is pushed upwards and then travels along the rails over the heads of any passengers. The container is then lowered to a convenient height for serving the passengers.
