Abstract

A cigarette conveying system in which the cigarettes are conveyed horizontally between belt conveyors (4, 6) and then vertically downwards through a channel between two partitions (8) to a machine below, includes also a buffer reservoir in which the cigarettes aare stored along a zig-zag path between further horizontal belt conveyors (14 to 22 etc.) if the machine stops working, then the belt conveyors inside the buffer housing can be reversed to discharge the cigarettes when the machine is in operation again. At each end of the horizontal belts are vertical belts (e.g. 29) so as to form a return bend at the end of each horizontal run. Curved guide sheets can be fitted in the corner of each bend. Further variations of the design include different corner guide systems at the bends.
