Abstract

The switching from forward to reverse gears involves a dog clutch for driving the drawing-in rollers of a self-propelling field chopper, in which the gears (16) are connected to the engine via a V-belt with a spring loaded pivotable tensioning roller. An actuating lever is connected to both the tensioning roller and the selector shaft (19) of the gears to displace the dog clutch sleeve (17), in such a way that on pivoting the lever in one direction, first the tensioning roller is lifted, then the dog clutch sleeve is displaced and the roller is lowered again. Pref. the lever is connected to a shaft of which the end opposite the lever bears a switch member of which the control cams actuate a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit to pivot the roller.
