Abstract

The fitting is attached to the main pipe by means of a clamp and bolts. The fitting is provided with a thread bush and guides a cutting tool. The tool is rotated by a lever so that its end cuts out a disc from the wall of the pipe. The tool is removed and replaced by a second bush with a flange which forms a sealing face for a ring. The branch is screwed into the fitting and makes a leak-tight joint by compressing the ring. The joint between the fitting and main pipe is sealed by a second ring.
