Abstract

Dye preparations for the production of water-insoluble azo dyestuffs on the fibre are described which are employed in the ice colour (azoic dyeing) technique and which contain an aromatic amine from the 2-aminodiphenyl ether series and the halogen-containing aniline series as diazo components in a concentration of 20 to 60 and 20 to 70 % by weight respectively. Ethoxylated castor oils and optionally di-, tri- or tetraethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers are used as solvents for these aromatic amines in the preparations, where the preparations can contain 20 to 80 % by weight of the ethoxylated castor oil and up to 60 % by weight of the ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers. These novel dyeing preparations are viscous solutions which can be employed in the ice colour technique with a considerable time saving. The diazo solutions obtainable from the preparation are additionally clearly transparent and completely residue-free even after relatively long standing. They also yield uniformly dyed fibre materials having particularly good abrasion fastness when used for dyeing wound packages.
