Abstract

The propulsion system utilises a rotor with a mass attached to one side so that the rotor is unbalanced about its axis of rotation. The rotor forms part of an electrical machine which acts as an electric motor for one half of a revolution during which the rotor is accelerated. In the following half revolution the machine acts as a generator and the rotor is decelerated. The alternate acceleration and deceleration of the rotor produces a centrifugal force which acts continuously in the same direction and can be utilised as a means of propulsion.
