Abstract

The movable quay structure is in the form of an elongated caisson. The caisson may be re-floated and moved to an alternative site, and is equipped to both handle cargoes and meet the function of a distribution terminnus. A giant oil tanker may be adapted and deployed in this manner. The structure is provided with a double outrigger gantry crane and is traversed longitudinally by rods and railways on at least two levels. The interior may be sub-divided into longitudinal cells each with storage bins and a roadway or railway. Hatches in the deick give crane access to the diverse storage.
