Abstract

Photographic product comprising a support with at least one layer containing a diazo salt, a diazo resin, or a bichromate plus a compatible dye which can be removed by washing, both dispersed in a water soluble binder. Fifteen cationic or non-ionic dyes are specified for diazo resins, and 7 anionic dyes for diazo salts or bichromtes. Specified diazo resins are diphenylamine-4-diazo sulphate zinc chloride salt/formaldehyde, or diphenylamine-4-diazo fluorophosphate/formaldehyde, or diphenylamine-4-diazo phosphate/acetone. Specified binders are gelatine, polyvinyl alcohol and partial esters, gum arabic, maleic anhydride/methylvinyl ether copolymers, polyvinyl pyrrolidones, ethylene oxide polymers all up to 3.2 mg/dm2; or hydroxyethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl-hydroxyethyl cellulose, and partial hydrolysates up to 43 mg/dm2. Also a process by image-wise exposing, then water washing at 10-50 degrees C to remove dye in unexposed areas. Simple process with no need to remove binder.
