Abstract

In a pile or fleece layer, partic. a cross-folder having at least one laying carriage carrying out a reciprocating motion in a bearing frame, at least one laying carriage is drawn by a device operating as a linear motor. In partic. at least one inductor cam is fixed to the driven laying carriage and is associated with a rail-type counter surface of electrically conducting material locally fixed to the bearing frame. Permits a higher laying carriage speed to be used than the usual mechanical or hydraulic drive systems.
