Abstract

The dispenser mechanism is for controlled unwinding of a metal foil web from a roller, for wrapping packages. It can be automatically operated at high speed, with speedy roll changeover. It has a motor-powered unwinding block (6) with pneumatic shears (8). The carriage (10) rolls along a rail (11). When a sufficient length of foil has been drawn off the roll in use, it is cut by the shears (8), and guided in a circular path around the package or spool-wrapping machine. The foil is drawn off tangentially so that dispensing is stable, even when the roll is nearly finished. The roll is tipped over using a lever (56) to bring the spare roll into operation while replacing the spent roll through a shutter (22).
