Abstract

An intermittently operating furnace is arranged with two flues for the evacuation of the gaseous products of combustion in the door and in the end wall facing the door. At their bases these flues connect to a series of collectors in the hearth of the furnace, and at their tops they connect through adjustable dampers to ducts leading into a stack. Design improves the insulation at the door and at the opposing wall, so that treatment of the charge is more uniform and the loading can be doubled. Used in metal and ceramic industries.
