Abstract
Pilger mill for cold rolling of tubes, fitted with >1 main toothed rack for dividing the rolls and a crank driving the roll stand along guides. Two pairs of rolls are located one behind the other in the stand, at least one roll in each pair being fitted with a drive gear; and a device is used to feed and rotate the tube blank. Specifically >=1 additional tooth rack is employed which meshes with the drive gear for one pair of rolls while the main rack meshes with the drive gear for the other pair of rolls. The distance between the two pairs of rolls in the stand is pref. adjustable. Simultaneous rend. in two pairs of rolls of the tube wall, where the blank is mounted on a conical mandrel, the performance of the mill being increased without increasing the driving power.
