Abstract

The demountable post and base assembly is for the support of traffic signs. The base comrpises a socket which is embedded in the ground and receives a spigot which extends from the bottom of the post (1). The base is set flush with the ground surface, thus facilitating verge mowing etc. when the post is temporarily removed. The post (1) may be of triangular hollow metal section which is closed at the bottom by a transverse plate. The spigot (5) may be round hollow section and extend axially from the bottom plate. The socket base unit may complement the form of the post base, i.e. compri e a shallow cup (2) of triangular cross-section with a tube (5) extending downwards from the centre of the cup bottom.
