Abstract

Ecdysone succinyl derivs. are prepd. by treatment of ecdysone with succinic anhydride in pyridine to give (I), and treatment of this with ethyl chloroformate in DMF to give a deriv. in which the carboxylic acid group is activated (II). Starting materials are thus obtd. for ecdosyne derivs. which may be used to study arthropod endocrinology, mode of action of insecticides, the rearing of crustaceans and the like under semi-natural conditions, and radio immunology. Typically the reactive deriv. (II) is coupled with a primary of secondary amine an the product complexed with albumin or tyrosine methyl ester.
