Abstract

Injection moulding head includes a main body with an injection duct in which a valve rod is slideable to control the flow of plastic melt through the injection duct. Surrounding the main body is a jacket with an inlet and an outlet to allow a refrigerant to be circulated through the jacket, and a sealed aperture is provided in the jacket to allow melt to be fed into the injection duct. The jacket is sepd. from the main body by a spacer element. The jacket and main body are held against a mould into which the melt is injected by locking flanges. By removing the flanges the individual parts e.g. main body, jacket, spacer element etc. can be removed individually from the mould.
