Abstract

1,118,196. Injection moulding. FERROTEST G.m.b.H. 7 Oct., 1965 [7 Oct., 1964], No. 42693/65. Heading B5A. In an injection mould for making plastics connections for pairs of crossed rods 14, 15 (e.g. reinforcing rods for concrete) the parts of the mould through which the rods project are provided with grooves 18 in which sealing elements 19 are located to prevent escape of injected plastics material. In Fig. 1 the sealing elements 19 are resilient and are held in place by securing pins H. The sealing elements 19 may alternatively be hollow (Fig. 5, not shown) and hydraulic cooling fluid may be passed therethrough continuously except for the time in which a high pressure is required to effect sealing. Alternatively the sealing elements may have a core of highly resilient material, e.g. sponge rubber, or they may be mounted on springs (22) (Fig. 3, not shown).
