Abstract

An adjustable stop inside a lather shaft, has alternate steel and rubber rings mounted on a core tube (1). An axial contraction of the composite ring liner causes the round section rubber rings (2) to expand radially, thus locking the stop in the desired position in the shaft. A stepped end disc (8, 9) and stepped sleeve (4, 5) may be at each end to obtain axial 'float' (e). The stop is contracted and expanded by a screw jack, using a threaded bolt (10) through it, with its head bearing on one stop end disc (8) and its other end engaging a tapped block (11) which bears on the opposite end disc (9).
