Abstract

Two-position thermostat for a liquid heater (1) with a burner (2) comprises in the fuel supply pipe (7) a first valve assembly (10) which allows constant passage of a fuel quantity required to maintain min. temp. of a given control range. A second valve assembly (11) is either completely closed or completely open. In the latter position, it allows passage of an additional fuel quantity required to reach max. temp. of the given control range. The second valve assembly is actuated by a differential signal formed from the nominal and actual temps. of the liquid. Pref. there is at least one temp. sensor (3) and a temp. setter (4) with outputs connected to a comparator (5). The output of the latter may be connected to an amplifier (6) whose output actuates the second valve assembly.
