Abstract

The mechanism is intended for emptying boxes (5) filled with fruit, and comprises a swivel frame which is pivotably supported on an horizontal shaft at the forward end of a stationary frame. The swivel frame can rotate over an angle of 180 deg. or more from a first, horizontal, position, in which it grips a layer of boxes into a second position in which this layer of boxes is deposited upside down for further transport. The swivel frame comprises a conveyor belt and one or more pairs of clamping jaws capable of engaging the sides of the boxes when this frame is in its first position. When the swivel frame is in its second position, the clamps disengage and the boxes are further transported by the belt so that the fruit can drop out.
