Abstract

The transistor based multivibrator circuit producing an asymmetrical output with a mark to space ratio defined by a saturating square hysteresis loop characteristic inductance, and with very stable characteristics. The output remains stable through temperature and voltage changes and the frequency range greater than that achieved with other inductance defined multivibrators. The circuit consists of two transistors (1, 2) and a number of resistances (3, 4... 8) arranged as a bistable circuit, with a saturating inductance (9) connected in series with a diode (13) between the transistor (1, 2) collectors, and a further diode (14) connected to a tapping on the inductance and to one collector. The output waveform is accurately determined by the square loop saturation characteristic of the inductance and by the tapping position.
