Abstract

A tractor driver's seat has an adjustable arm rest (5) which may be partially retracted by pivoting down through an angle of say 45 deg.. A hinge mechanism with two pins (6, 7) guide slots (12, 14, 15) and a stop spring prevent inadvertent arm rest rotation. The pins (6, 7) are horizontal parallel and mounted to project laterally from the rear zone of a chair back (2) side wall (1). The arm rest (5) may be of inverted 'U' section and have two slots in the rear of the side walls, through which the pins project. The first slot (12) is straight and the second slot has a straight length (14) with a downward returned curved tail (15). The straight slot portions (12, 14) align horizontally are of equal length and are spaced centre to centre at the distance between the pins.
