Abstract
Pump/turbine sets for stored water power stations operate as pumps as well as turbines. The two stages are arranged in such a way that the impeller blades of one stage are back-to-back with the impeller blades of the other stage. The guide vanes of one stage are connected in tandem with the guide vanes of the other stage. The guide vane pairs thus connected have a common pitch control drive, consists of two or more parts and are frictionally connected with each other. The guide vane pairs can be fitted with individual servomotors, or a single servomotor acts on all guide vane pairs by intermediary of a governor ring.
