Abstract
In an electrophotographic recording material with Se (alloy) or Se cpd. contg. As as photoconductor, the improvement comprises the use of vitreous amorphous Se with a total As content of 0.1-5 wt.% and a concn. gradient with increasing amts. of As from the surface of the conducting substrate towards the free surface up to 50-90% of the thickness of the photoconductive layer and then decreasing amts. of As, so that the As concn. at the free surface is under 3 wt.%. Simple and reproducible mfr. of the material is possible. The advantages of the presence of As (preventing crystallisation, surface hardness and wear resistance) are obtd., whilst the charge retention is better and the spectral properties are only slightly different from those of pure Se.
