Abstract

The security lock mechanism has a rotating cylinder (2) within the stationary cylindrical body of the lock (3). Sprung tumblers of different heights (5) lie in radial bores in the stator, and corresponding counter-pins lie in the key slot in the rotor. Insertion of the correct key profile aligns the tumblers, allowing the rotor to turn. Secondary sprung tumblers (5), in radial bores displaced angularly with respect to the primary bores, take the form of a pin of a smaller diameter than its bore, with a small head of the same diameter as the bore. If an incorrect key turns the lock, the secondary tumblers fall into the key slot and prevent further rotation.
