Abstract

An ultrasonic sensing head has a hollow body fitted with a water inlet orifices, and an electromechanical transducer carried by a support on the face of the body opposite from the component (4) to be sensed. The internal volume of the body constitutes a water enclosure through which the ultrasonic beam emitted by the transducer passes. The water enclosure contains a concentric coupling chamber which has a cavity whose cross-section decreases along the ultrasonic beam axis and which is pierced with an outlet orifice in its base through which the ultrasonic beam passes together with the water. The transducer is fixed and the coupling chamber may more towards it by means of a motor drive (16).
