Abstract
A nuclear reactor has a first vessel contg. the reactor core and the primary heat transport fluid, a second vessel contg. the heat exchanger and pumps driven by motors outside the vessel for the circulation of primary fluid through the exchanger. The primary fluid circulating pumps are located at one end of the exchangers. The output flow from several exchangers are mixed in the second vessel before passing to the suction of the pumps for delivering to the first vessel. Pref. the circulation pumps are located below and coaxially with the exchangers. Permits the size of the second vessel to be reduced, as well as the number of apertures in the cover for the removal of the heat exchangers and/or pumps and the size of the handling equipment required for this purpose.
