Abstract
The silo has a cone shaped discharge end, with normal discharge by compressed air entering at the tip and moving the material through the outlet pipe. If blockage occurs through compaction and the internal pressure drops below a predetermined value, pulses of air are injected from a ring main. The amount of air is 5 to 20 times larger than that necessary for working and is injected in approximately one second, being supplied from a storage tnak and dispersed alternately through inlet pipes, spaced radially around the silo, each side of the ring main.
