Abstract

Labelling machine conveys a label along a predetermined track and has means to store a supply of labels incorporating a system to detachably hold a label from the supply and transfer it to the item to be labelled whilst it is being moved along the track. There is also a device to apply adhesive to the label together with a control system activated by the passage of the front edge of the label past a reference point in order to operate the adhesive supply which is shut off by the passing of the rear edge of the label at the same point.
