Abstract

The compressor exhaust valve compresses a valve disc (2) held in contact with the valve plate (1) by a spring (3) compressed by a retainer cover (4). The cover is square and has feet (8) guiding the disc and fixing the cover to the plate. The inner surface (5) of the cover forms a seat for one end of the spring and is at an angle (alpha) to the valve plate. The spring is thus compressed more on one side than the other, reducing the operating noise and increasing sensitivity to low flow rates. The disc hinges about the side at which the spring is more compressed, thus providing pilot venting.
