Abstract

The associative memory comprises a main random access memory and at least one auxiliary random access memory, which stores the same number of words as the main memory, but with the words consisting of less bits. Means are provided for storing a word at an address of the main memory and for storing this address in the auxiliary memory at an auxiliary address defined by the least significant bits of the word. Read-out means are used for reading the auxiliary memory at the defined address, to obtain the main memory address where the word is stored, this word then being compared with external data.
