Abstract

Smoke- producing charge, for a smoke shell or bomb, uses a non-burning smoke generating liquid esp. TiCl4 which instantaneously and spontaneously emits copious fumes in contact with the air. The charge is contained in an envelope pref. plastic and itself contains axially in its interior a second liquid, esp. water, for improving the volume, quality and instantaneous nature of the smoke emission. These liquids are dispersed in the atmosphere by a small explosive charge. The smoke generator has limited volume and weight gives instantaneous smoke emission extending over a large area.
