Abstract

An ejector type mixer and mixing process in which two fluids are mixed, in partic. a gas is mixed into a liq. The mixer comprises an axially converging tube with a closed larger end and open smaller end forming the outlet for the fluid mixt. A first fluid is injected laterally into the tube near the larger end through which an axial nozzle supplies a second fluid, the static press. at the nozzle outlet being less than external press. to that the second fluid is sucked into the middle of a vortex of the first fluid. Used for mixing fluids, partic a gas into a liq. and esp. for aerating waste waters and treating liq. manure by circulating in closed circuit through the mixer. The mixer is more compact and less costly than centrifugal mixers for the same purpose. This centripetal type mixer does not create foam of problem proportions, does not cause nitrogen loss from liq. manure but does completely deodorise it.
