Abstract

The device comprises a rod part of which is toothed to engage a rachet mounted on the gate and part of which forms a plunger traversing a hydraulic valve. Under normal conditions the plunger is located by a thrust pin so that part of the valve chamber is obstructed to isolate two hydraulic connections to the valve. If the platen moves while the gate is open, the ratchet on the latter restraints the rod sufficiently to shear the pin. Subsequent motion of the valve body (on the platen) relative to the plunger connects the hydraulic connection to relieve the pressure on the platen traverse ram, thus halting the platen motion. Device is suitable for guarding daylights on injection moulding machines etc.
