Abstract
A cable end clamp has a stranded wire cable (2) with a number of strands (3) wound round a core (4). The clamp (1) has a central cone (8) covered with a layer of soft aluminium (12) of about 40HB hardness and with longitudinal grooves in which the strands (3a) of the cable are laid. The outer cone (1) which is made of high tensile steel, has longitudinal strips (10) of soft aluminium, secured by screws to the inner surface of the outer cone (1). The inner surfaces of these strips (10) also have grooves to suit the cable strands. When the outer cone (1) is screwed into the fitting (6) the soft aluminium is deformed and provides a firm grip on the strands (3a).
