Abstract

Long or short boot has an upper consisting of a lining, a sleeve of initially stretchable knitted or woven fabric, and an adhesive coating pref. "Neoprene" (RTM) which bonds the lining and sleeve together and renders the boot semi-rigid. The boot is manufactured by covering a least with the adhesive coated lining, and pulling the sleeve over the lining so as to completely cover it. Then the steps of coating, applying the sole, and finishing are carried out. Pref. the lining is mounted on the last, then the assembly consisting of toe-cap, insole and counter is applied, then the lining is coated with adhesive. When this is dry, the sleeve is pulled over the lining, and the whole assembly is subjected to heating. The resulting upper is semi-rigid, seamless, and highly impermeable.
