Abstract
The shoe soles are made from a core material which is covered with leather. The pieces of leather used are moulded around the core pieces such as heel and the sole piece. The composite sole is made readily at low cost and it is much lighter than a sole made throughout from leather. The core is prepared from a suitable material and the lower underside surface or the underside (3) and the faces (4) of the sole edges are covered with a single, integral piece (2) of leather. These two components are joined by adhesive bonding. The leather is at first placed on the underside of the sole and its edges are turned upwards to cover the edges of the sole. No interruptions or gaps or joints become visible on the side edge.
