Abstract

878,369. Insoles. CHAMBERLAIN Ltd., E. A. April 26, 1960 [April 30, 1959], No. 14824/59. Class 17(2) A shoe insole comprising a strip of material, e.g. fibre-board, free from transverse joints has a toe portion 5, Fig. 3, of thickness not greater than one half that of a heel portion 7 and an intermediate portion 6 of thickness less than that of the toe portion 5. Blanks 3, Fig. 1, for the insole are made by splitting a sheet of fibreboard along a line 2. The intermediate portion 6 is then reduced in thickness by sleiving and may also be slashed, as at 10, Fig. 4, to increase its flexibility. The finished insole 9 may be cut or stamped from the blank in a range of sizes. A sheet of flexible material, e.g. a rubber-leather material, may be attached to either face of the insole. The insole may be of flexible fibre-board impregnated with a thermo-setting or thermoplastic resin which is cured at the toe and heel portions to stiffen them.
