Abstract
An optical device is used to measure dimensions of cylindrical objects. The measuring device, has a rotating mirror (1) with a constant angular velocity about an axis (1a). This axis (1a) is at the focal point of a lens (2). The mirror (1) transforms a laser beam (3) into a rotating beam (3a). The rotating beam of light (3a) is then changed into a parallel beam (3b) by a lens (2). Another lens changes the beam (3b) into a converging beam onto a photo-electric detector at the focal point of the second lens. The device gives a beam of light with a parallel sweep. It is used to measure the diameter of the wire (7).
