Abstract

The electronic ignition circuit is used for an internal combustion engine. It simplifies the alteration of dwell time (= closed/open time) by varying the output of the magnetic generator. This variation is a function of the speed of the engine and it is such that the power consumption of the ignition circuit is less at lower speeds. The generator has its output varied by a diode and capacitor circuit, and this diode and capacitor circuit is connected to the armature winding of the generator and produces a dc voltage proportional to the peaks of the generator's output. This dc voltage modified the output and thereby alters the percentage dwell.
